Reading at home
The children will bring home new a reading book once a week. They should read this aloud each night and discuss the story. There are some questions in the home reader books to answer to test their comprehension knowledge. The children will also bring home a library book to share with an adult. These can be changed as often as needed. Please record in their reading record when they read. There are questions and sentence starters for you to use with your child when reading below.
Every half term the children will bring home a list of suggested homework tasks they can complete linked to our topic. They can do these at their leisure and return them to school as and when they complete them. We recommend that the children try to complete at least 3
1 of the tasks for each subject across the half term however if they wish to do more, they certainly can!
We use 'Spelling Shed' as an online resource for children to use to practise year 2 spellings. The children will receive a login to use at home and access various games and activities to practise at home and improve their spelling ability. Please ensure you use this years log in and not last years or you will not be able to access their assignments.
