School Council
Here at St. Nicolas, we believe it is very important for ALL children to have a voice and feel as though their views and opinions count.
Our School Council is elected by the children each year in September. Each class elects one boy and one girl to be their representative. Children who want to be councillors for their class make posters and give speeches about why they want to be a councillor and how they will represent their class, and then the children have a vote!
Each councillor has to ensure that the views of all of the children in their class are heard. They work hard to find ways of collecting the ideas and suggestions of the rest of the school by having:
- class votes
- a notebook to record the views of others
- suggestion boxes
The school council meet at least once every half term to talk about any issues that have been raised by the children in our class.
If you have any ideas about how we can make St Nicolas a better place, then speak to your class councillor today!
