St Nicolas Design and Technology Intent 

At St Nicolas C of E Academy, Design & Technology is taught through creative and practical challenges as children engage in an iterative process of designing, making and evaluating.

As learners, when designing and making, children research and develop their ideas through sketching and discussion; use a range of tools and materials to construct; evaluate their work, considering the views of others and apply their technical knowledge to structures, mechanical and electrical systems. 

Children are taught cooking and nutrition, to instil a love of cooking as a crucial life skill and form of creativity. Children are given opportunities to prepare a range of dishes, understanding food procurement and seasonality.
