Youth with a Mission

 

We are reguarly visited by Andy Kennedy from The King's Lodge Youth with a Mission as he takes collective worship with the children. We also have the opportunity to explore their Winter Wonderland with our pupils who get to explore the story of The Lion, the Witch and the wardrobe in a truly immersive experience.

 

 

Certificate of Honour

Ex pupil Rebecca, has recently been awarded a British Citizen Youth Award.  The award was presented at the Palace of Westminster by Kimberly Wyatt from the Pussy Cat Dolls.

We are so proud of Rebecca of all the hard work and dedication she has shown.  Her passion for Butterflies has inspired so many!  Well done Rebecca!

 

 

St Nicolas Church Visits

What a wonderful year we have had, growing our strong bond between school and church. The children of St Nicolas have visited over the Summer term and have learnt why the church is such a special place. We have also performed at St Nicolas church for Harvest, Christmas, Easter and we were thrilled to have returned to the church for our Year 6 Leaver’s service. Reverend Chris has been coming into school throughout the year, leading collective worship and meeting our school community. We are thankful for all the support the church has given us and look forward to the next academic year as we continue to flourish together.

 

Christmas Charity Album

 

Years 4,5 and 6 Recorded the song ‘Last Christmas’ as part of Nuneaton Sings Album. Many other local schools also recorded songs and all proceeds went to the local Foodbank and other charities.

 

Remembrance

A special remembrance service is held for the whole school, with Year 6 commemorating at our church and the rest of the school gathering together on the playground to reflect about those who fought and lost their lives during the war.

 

Macmillan Coffee Morning

 

Each year, we have raised money to support the fantastic charity Macmillan, by inviting friends and families into school to share their work and have some cake. It is lovely to meet so many of our community at this lovely events.

 

Queen's Platinum Jubilee Party

What a wonderful day! The children all thoroughly enjoyed themselves as well as learning a great deal about Queen Elizabeth II and the significance of the Platinum Jubilee. Just look at some of the amazing photos we have from the day!

Ukraine Fundraising with UNICEF

We would like to say a hug thank you for your kind support and generosity with raising money for the Ukraine. We raised a huge £1268.00. This money is going direct to Unicef.

Children in Need

Every Year we support Children in Need with lots of different fundraising activities including dressing up and even a dance off as shown below
Well done to all involved.

Comic Relief

Each Year we support Comic/Sports Relief and recognise the amazing work of this charity.
We have done a range of acitivites including this amazing whole school Flash Mob dance

Mayor Visit

We were very lucky to have the Mayor of Nuneaton and Bedworth visit our school on Monday. He led our assemblies talking to the children about his role. The children asked lots of fantastic questions. The School Council met with the Mayor and discussed their role in school too, they thoroughly enjoyed it! The Mayor was extremely impressed with our wonderful School and children. These are some of his quotes. “Impressed with behaviour in the school.” “Excellent examples of written work.” “The school was extremely welcoming.”

MP Marcus Jones Visit

Marcus Jones visited St Nicolas School to meet with the School Councillors. The children asked questions about his job and what he did. Marcus explained how many years he had worked as an MP for, and how he enjoyed his job. They also asked him questions about our school and what we could do to improve it.

Christmas Cards for local residents

Our children decided to make Christmas Cards for the residents of Allambie Court Care Home to provide some festive cheer during these difficult times.

Easter Cards for Locals

Year 1 made Easter cards for the residents of Long Lea Care Home. They were thrilled to receive them

Residential Home Sing A Long

Our children visited the residents of Long Lea Care Home to perform some songs for them. They enjoyed time after the event chatting with the residents and sharing their hopes for the future.

Festival of Arts Competition

We always enter the local Festival of Arts competition and the children do well celebrating first, second and third prizes with their work on the display in the local art gallery

Local Winter Art Window

The children of St Nicolas wanted to share some happiness, so they have shared their beautiful 'Winter Art' with members of our community by displaying it at Horeston Grange Co-op.

Little Princess Trust

We are very proud of one of our pupils as she has very kindly donated her hair to the Little Princess Trust. She donated 9 inches of hair to be used to make wigs for children and young people.

Doorway Homeless Charity Collection

Year 3 would like to say a huge thank you to you all for your kind donations. Doorway, the local charity for the homeless, really appreciated your generosity.

Firefighter Visit

The local fire service came to visit Year1. The children really enjoyed learning about how to keep safe If there was a fire in our homes.

Cancer Research

We held a non uniform day to raise money for Cancer Research. One of our Mum's, Sarah Johnston, has recently battled thyroid cancer and ran the London marathon to fund raise. Mia and Ethan wanted to show how much they love their Mum by organising the day and raising money for this amazing cause. We chose Valentines Day in particular as it is a day about expressing love. We are so proud to say that together we have raised £616.00 for this amazing cause.
