St Nicolas Science Intent 

At St. Nicolas we passionately believe that science is key to all children’s lives both at school and in the wider world. We aim to stimulate all pupils to develop an aspirational thirst for knowledge in this subject by offering carefully planned sequential lessons that build on prior learning. 

We offer the opportunity to participate in a wide range of creative and engaging experiments and provide opportunities to experience scientific concepts first-hand. By purposeful selection, we aim to enable children to discover the impact of diverse, influential scientists and to acknowledge the contribution of the whole scientific community to the shared understanding of our world. 

In order to create the scientists of the future, we aim to pique the children’s curiosity and to foster a culture of open questioning where by learning is furthered through deep reflection. Our intention is for children to see the relevance and influence of science in their own lives and be excited by new developments within the subject.
