St Nicolas Music Intent

At St Nicolas, we value Music as an essential part of children’s learning experience. Our curriculum enables them to express themselves creatively while also extending their knowledge of the fundamental aspects and rich history of the subject at the same time.

During their musical learning journey, the children are exposed to a range of opportunities to listen, appraise, compose, perform and evaluate their own work and that of others through high quality planning and teaching.

We wish to immerse the children in an extensive and diverse range of musical styles, and provide them with exciting musical experiences to continue to engage, challenge and inspire them. The children have access to a wide range of musical instruments to explore and develop skills across the different elements of the subject.

They are also exposed to a range of opportunities to further their knowledge of the interrelated dimensions of Music in increasing depth as they move through the school.

At St Nicolas we aim to promote a love for Music and everything it embodies, in all of our pupils and staff alike.
