St Nicolas PE Intent 

The vision of our creative Physical Education at St. Nicholas C of E Academy is to develop physically literate individuals who have the knowledge, skills and confidence to enjoy a lifetime of healthful physical activity.

Our progressive and sequential PE curriculum, alongside flexible and varied teaching styles, endeavours to challenge, stimulate and excel all pupils in a wide variety of sports, physical activities, and exercise.  

We are involved in the Nuneaton Primary School Sports Association (NPSSA) which focuses on competitive and non-competitive school competitions, providing ambitious and engaging opportunities for all pupils to participate in sports and activities both in and beyond the curriculum. 

At St Nicolas, we aspire for children to enjoy physical activity and develop the knowledge and skills which will have a positive impact on their future by becoming physically active to benefit their long-term health and well-being. 

Our overall aims are for all pupils to; 

• Adapt and excel in an expansive PE curriculum.  

• Create pathways to continue to be active beyond school. 

• Lead a healthy, active and wholesome life. 

We will achieve this by: 

• Delivering high quality, in depth lessons based on a broad, multifaceted curriculum. 

• Ensuring our pupils gain the knowledge and understanding of the importance of an active lifestyle. 

• Taking part in an extensive competitive and non-competitive inter-school schedule, accessible to all.
