Remote Learning

Remote education should only ever be considered as a last resort where a decision has already been made that attendance at school is not possible, but pupils are able to continue learning.

St Nicolas continues to provide an ambitious and broad curriculum in all subjects. We have extensive plans for the provision of remote education to ensure that the children that need to be educated at home are given the support they need to continue learning. Our remote education is of a high quality and aligns as closely as possible with in-school provision.

Work may be set on Seesaw or given in person focusing on the core subjects of English and Maths. Instructions/videos from the class teacher may be included and the work may be marked so that feedback can be given. We will use a range or resources including Oak National Academy https://www.thenational.academy/to support the children in their learning.

If you are unable to access Seesaw, please contact the office for further support. It is an expectation that all children complete the set home learning, to ensure minimal disruption to their education.

We recognise that some pupils may not have suitable online access at home. We take the following approaches to support those pupils to access remote education:

*Loan of a kindle/ipad

*Printed home learning packs

We recognise that some pupils, for example some pupils with special educational needs and disabilities (SEND), may not be able to access remote education without support from adults at home. We acknowledge the difficulties this may place on families, and we will work with parents and carers to support those pupils.
